New Cock on the Block: Doc Johnson Vac-U-Lock Leather Ultra Harness 3000

I've always been a big fan of being on the receiving end of anal play, but having not had a partner comfortable enough to turn things about, I was exceptionally interested when my new partner mentioned he'd had a little experience in being pegged. However, being the kind of person who over thinks what they'll put in a sandwich, I was big on examining every aspect before trying anything. I'm sure he must have been so sick of me looking at the minutia of every possible harness and dildo combination, but he bore me well, bless him. The main deciding factor in the end for us was that we both adore leather, and with the higher end leather harnesses out of our budget range, we were limited to this and a handful of o-ring style harnesses, all of which looked a little on the cheap side. I was concerned about being limited to the Vac-U-Lock range of dildos, seeing as they are rather limited, but when we found two options we were both happy with, we decided to go for this rather than shell out for something that seemed uncomfortable or just looked a bit tatty.

Packaging
I must say, I'm impressed by Doc Johnson's packaging style. All too often, the more kinkier items either come in rather graphic and cringe-worthy boxes, or in horrifically wasteful packaging that seems to take the 'so large and excessive no one could ever guess' style of discretion. We found a small cardboard (recyclable, yay!) box in muted yellow tones, with a picture of the product - devoid of porny model - on the front, and a another on the back as a diagram listing the various features. Would be obvious within seconds to any nosey type who picked it up, but it doesn't scream SEX TOY!! across the room. Very tasteful. Inside, there was a small plastic bag containing the attachment plug, a very thoughtful leaflet depicting the various dildos and accessories for the harness, the harness itself folded neatly, and a leather extension strap to allow it to accommodate a wider range of sizes. All neat and well thought through, with minimal waste, very impressive.

The Practicalities
Vac-U-Lock Leather Ultra Harness 3000
First thing we had to do was attach the plug to the harness. It's only four poppers, but they are perfectly sized, so the final popper can be rather stiff. Once the harness had seen some action, I could manage it with minimal fuss, but the first time, the fella had to step in and do the manly thing. After that, sizing it is a simple enough process. There's three basic buckles: one on each hip, and one at the back where the thong meets the waistband. The extension strap could be added at any of these points if needed. I could reach all the buckles easily while wearing it myself, and they're very well designed, all rounded edges, small and secure, but easy to open and work with. The speed control holster slips freely along when pushed, so that can be positioned either as needed, or wherever it won't get in the way. I've not used it, but aside from giving it a whoosh about when putting the harness on, I forget it's even there, so there's no concerns with it irritating you. A little lube in the 'socket' of your dildo of choice makes them a breeze to get on and off. I did once struggle a little when I managed to trap an air pocket in one so it didn't want to secure properly, but it was easy sorted, and other than that they literally do just pop on and off like a rather more fun Mister Potato Head. Yet I've not once felt one slip even a smidge, so they definitely are locked securely in place.

Comfort & Freedom
The leather, while tough and durable, is amazingly soft and supple. The straps are thick, with rounded and well-finished edges, so they don't cut in. I like to tighten them a little on the 'too much' side, just so I can be sure the harness won't slip once the leather's warmed by body heat or some such, but even at that I don't feel them, and there's no marks left behind like I'd find when wearing too tight panties. One of the things I'd said was a no-no when we were looking at harness options was the type where there was some big plastic triangle wedged in front of the chick's privates, because I know I'm a little oddly shaped, so that would be guaranteed to cut into me in places that really don't want cut into! The front on this is pure buttery leather, honestly, I couldn't be more comfortable if I were naked. The plug attachment is also sensibly designed, as the hard plastic has rounded edges, and is backed with a thick foam padding that means even thrusting my pubic bone hard against it causes no discomfort. My partner loved the open crotch style, for obvious reasons, and I can't say I was hating the idea either! At the front, it cuts perfectly, leaving everything naked and accessible, but I find it goes back too far before tapering to the thong style, as the back of the panel winds up slipping slightly sideways and pressing into the crac of my bum mini-wedgie-style. It's not painful, and when I'm focused on certain other things I barely even notice, but it is a shame that it wasn't just a couple of inches shorter. That said, I am a short wee thing, so it could be that it's fine on a non-munchkin. Either way, it's a minor niggle rather than a true flaw.

The Sex Factor
The juicy part! Well, not so much, since this review stops at the dildo base, all the fun stuff is saved for the dong reviews! First thing's first, and that's the appearance, and I do have to say, I looked damn good. The fit is flattering, the leather looks, feels, and smells absolutely delicious, my 'cock' was neatly attached so that it looked as close to natural as possible this side of a surgeon's knife, and knowing that my OH could still see my lady parts made it that much sexier. I certainly felt that part, and to be honest, as important as it is to tick all those practical boxes, how you feel wearing it can make or break the moment: if I didn't feel like a confident and kinky little sex goddess, the whole thing would never have worked. I'd foregone any user-side treats because I wanted to be able to concentrate on what I was doing to the lad until I was sure of myself, but I got a hell of a lot out of it from the mental thrill of it, which is build firmly on how I felt about myself while playing. So that is a big thing to consider. As to how it held up in use, I'm still loving it. The comfort and security meant that I could forget about such silly things as dildos slipping off or having to pause to readjust myself, and just enjoy it.

As a first-timer, this was a slight risk, as it's a fair amount to shell out on a 'maybe', but I do believe that getting the better quality version lent itself to a much better experience, that has lead to me being able to say I am a solid fan of pegging. One more convert to the score sheet! And it's not the kind of harness that should need replacing or upgrading, short of the odd new dildo for a change of pace, so it definitely is a firm investment. I'm still a little put off by the limitations of the alternative dildo options for the Vac-U-Lock system, but we have two that work well, so we're in no rush on that front. Would certainly be nice if they added more variety to the range, but for now, it's not that big of an issue.
Pros
Leathery smell;
comfortable fit;
soft texture;
looks great;
holds dildos securely.
Cons
Crotch panelling reaches a little too far back;
dildo choice is limited.
